founder & president | jay Zandell

Jay Zandell is the Founder of VIKYNZ, The RemFest Conference Series, and the Do–Duck–Athon, and serves as Co-Founder and President of EPIC. Throughout his career, Jay has focused on uniting the environmental and geoscience communities through collaborative learning, meaningful dialogue, and relationship-building. Through platforms like The RemFest and the Do–Duck–Athon, he has created dynamic opportunities for professionals to connect, share knowledge, and foster camaraderie while advancing sustainability and innovation within the industry. As a leader within EPIC, Jay remains committed to strengthening partnerships, expanding education, and supporting initiatives that create lasting environmental and community impact.

vice president | Derek D. Koller

Derek D. Koller, CIH, CHMM is an environmental professional with 17 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry in Southern Arizona, primarily specializing in environmental due diligence, asbestos, and industrial hygiene. He holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Arizona and has supported local Brownfields grant programs for the City of Tucson, City of South Tucson, and Pima County. Derek is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM). He has been involved with the Geoprofessionals Business Alliance since 2020, serving on the Phase I ESA State of the Practice Subcommittee and as Vice Chair of the Environmental Due Diligence Subcommittee. Other non‑profit leadership includes serving as a President of the Southern Arizona Environmental Management Society (SAEMS), a Board of Member for the Environmental Professional Industry Charities (EPIC), and Chair of the Terracon Foundation Board.

Rich DeMusis is a seasoned environmental industry professional and Senior Commercial Lines Insurance Specialist with more than 25 years of experience in business development, client relations, and risk management. Drawing on 14 years supporting environmental engineering firms through environmental data and risk information providers, he now specializes in helping environmental consultants, engineers, contractors, and related businesses navigate complex insurance and risk management challenges. Rich serves as Vice President of the Rocky Mountain Association for Environmental Professionals (RMAEP) and as a board member of EPIC (Environmental Professional Industry Charities), reflecting his deep commitment to advancing and supporting the environmental profession. He is widely recognized for his relationship-focused approach, industry expertise, and passion for helping organizations protect their people, projects, and long-term success
